Graduate Course,Second Semester, 2 hour/week at the Faculty of Agriculture
The course will introduce chemical ecology, with emphasis on communication of
arthropods in natural and agricultural ecosystems. The students will be exposed to
fundamental concepts in chemical ecology and be acquainted with methodologies for isolation
and identification of chemical signals. Various chemical signals will be studied in relation
to their source, perception and their biological role as behavior modulators.
The implications of chemical communication in agriculture will be discussed.
