ABSTRACT
Two flow visualization techniques, the shadowgraph and the hydrogen bubbles, are combined to facilitate simultaneous observation of the vertical velocity profile and the density interfaces in a stratified mixed layer in an annulus. The experimental setup is described and some examples of the resulting photographs are presented and discussed.
